Silver maples, cottonwoods, willows and sycamores put out roots that run along the surface and eventually lift the sidewalk, crack the driveway, push at the foundation, or make a lawn impossible to mow. We remove surface and lateral roots where they are doing damage — cut cleanly, dug out, and the ground graded and backfilled — and we tell you honestly when a root is too close to the trunk to cut without endangering the tree. We also clear the root mass left behind after a removal or a grind so the ground can be used again.
